FCS Names Nancy Bailey 2019 Teacher of the Year

Franklin Community Schools is excited to announce that Nancy Bailey was named 2019 Franklin Community Schools Teacher of the Year.  Bailey was recognized at the May 6, End of Year Recognition Program along with six other colleagues who were representing other schools in the district.

Bailey teaches Spanish III, IV, and V, Indiana University’s Advance College Project. She is currently the Key Club Sponsor; freshmen kickoff event coordinator, Spanish Honor Society sponsor, and a PLC leader. 

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Goshen College and a master’s of education from Indiana Wesleyan University.  Seňora Bailey’s passion for learning and challenging students has produced a rich, robust classroom environment filled with exploration, inquiry, and varied instructional strategies.  Her love of teaching students shines through each day.  She brings a positive, supportive and contagious energy to her classroom where she develops caring relationships with her students and gets to know them as individuals.  She holds her students to high expectations but does so by developing these meaningful relationships.  She takes the same approach when working with teachers. Her energy and enthusiasm for teaching is contagious. 

Colleague, Zach DeWitt says, “She possesses a unique ability to convey sincerity and authenticity with each conversation. There isn’t a day that goes by when Nancy isn’t working towards the greater good within the department.  Nancy’s service to others (teachers and students alike) stands out as a hallmark characteristic that has earned her the trust and relationships of everyone in the building.”

Bailey will represent Franklin Community Schools in the Indiana Department of Education Teacher of the Year program.
