First day of school for all Franklin Community Schools is Wednesday, August 3. There will be no early release or late arrival that week. 

Fast Track: July 27, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at Custer Baker Intermediate School. Please contact  Cristy Williams with questions.

Franklin Community High School - Wednesday, July 27, 8 am - 12 pm - Freshman Kick Off - Report to the Performing Arts Center for registration.  The event is designed for students to participate in team-building activities, receive their schedules, and tour the building.

Effective for the 2022-2023 school year, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) waiver to provide free meals for all students will expire. This means that breakfast and lunch charges to families will resume.  

Free & Reduced Meal applications will be available beginning July 1st. We strongly encourage families to complete this application before the start of the school year to avoid unpaid meal charges. Completion of this application can also help with qualifying for other assistance programs for the family and student. Applicants will receive notice of approval or denial.

   Lunch (Grades K-6) - $2.90

   Lunch (Grades 7-12) - $3.00

**Parents/guardians are not responsible for paying Chromebook fees for the 2022-2023 school year. 

FCS accepts cash, check, money order, or credit card. Payment plans are available for all families. Please contact your child's school to discuss the plan that works best for you and to obtain a payment agreement form.


Franklin Community Schools partners with the Boys & Girls Club of Johnson County to offer a before and after school care program to our students at each elementary and Custer Baker Intermediate School. The cost of care is $5/day for before school care and $10/day for after-school care. A registration fee applies. Registration is now open! 


Franklin Community Schools uses ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text, and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.
