Elizabeth Edwards Named Director of Food Services

Franklin Community Schools would like to announce that Elizabeth Edwards, RD has been named the next Director of Food Services. The recommendation was approved by the FCS School Board of Trustees at the April 26 meeting.

Edwards joins Franklin after serving over six years as the Nutrition Program Director at the Archdiocese of Indianapolis where she developed a new school nutrition program for five schools.   Prior to that, she was the registered dietician for MSD of Wayne and Decatur Townships.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Purdue University.

”I am thrilled to have the opportunity to step into the role of Food Service Director with Franklin Community Schools,” Elizabeth Edwards said. “As a Registered Dietitian, I am enthusiastic about innovating and bringing fresh options to school food service. I’m excited to learn more about the Ag Program and exploring ways to incorporate some of this program into our food service operation. Most of all, I look forward to getting to know everyone and becoming part of the FCS family!”

“Elizabeth is passionate about student nutrition and focuses on menu quality including from-scratch items using fresh ingredients and local produce,” Director of Operations Jeff Sewell said. “Community partnerships and farm-to-school fresh ingredients have been hallmarks of Franklin Schools' Food Services program under the leadership of Mrs. Jill Overton who is retiring at the end of this school year. It is clear Mrs. Edwards shares this same commitment and sense of purpose in providing healthy meals for students.  We can't wait to see what the future holds in store!”

“Elizabeth is replacing an awesome Food Service Director in Jill Overton,” Dr. David Clendening, Superintendent said. “Her strong background in food service and academic endeavors has placed her in a great position to lead FCS's food service department. I am looking forward to seeing this program continue to shine bright and support our students. Elizabeth is a great addition to our team.”
