Early Release Schedule Returns January 27th

Beginning on Wednesday, January 27, Franklin Community Schools will resume an early release schedule for students in grades K-6.  Early release will be on each Wednesday of this semester unless otherwise denoted.

As the K-6 buildings have been fortunate enough to participate in in-person learning, five days per week, since the start of the school year, they have maintained some feeling of normalcy.  As we return to the early release schedule, this allows teachers the much-needed opportunity to collaborate, share expertise, and analyze student data that is used to improve classroom instruction.

Cub Care will continue to offer before and after school care to students in grades K-6.  Students who attend Cub Care must have a completed registration form two business days prior to the date he/she attends. Please visit the website for more information about registration and the program.

FCMS and FCHS teachers will continue to utilize some time on Wednesdays for collaboration and data review.  Since Wednesdays are currently virtual, families are not affected by this collaboration time.

FAQ

Q. Will there be childcare available when my child is released early?

A. Cub Care will continue to be open daily from 6:00 am - school start time and again from dismissal to 6:00 pm. This includes early release on Wednesdays.

Q. Is there anything I need to do to ensure my child has a spot in Cub Care?

A. Yes, a registration form must be completed and accompanied by a one-time fee of $20 per family.  Once registered, you must wait a full 2 business days to attend the program. A registration form must be completed for each child who plans to attend.  Parents will be unable to register if there is an outstanding balance from the previous year.

Q. Can my child go to Cub Care only on Wednesdays?

A. Yes! It is helpful to communicate this for staffing purposes, but is an option!

Q. Will my child be able to go to the Boys and Girls Club or Girls Inc. on early release days?

A. Yes! Both programs have graciously offered to open their programs early on those days to accommodate our students.

Q. What about transportation?  How will that work?

A. On early release days, the bus will drop students (grades k-6) off approximately 40 minutes earlier.  Buses will run all typical routes such as Boys & Girls Club, Girls Inc., etc.

Q. My CBIS student plays sports at the middle school, how will he/she get there?

A. The Transportation Department will still offer transfer buses at 3:00.  Students will be able to remain at CBIS until that time.
