Cheryl Moran Named Principal at Custer Baker Intermediate School
Franklin Community Schools would like to announce that Cheryl Moran has been named the next principal at CBIS. The recommendation was approved by the FCS School Board of Trustees at the March meeting.
Moran’s move to CBIS follows spending five years as the principal at Webb Elementary. Prior to that, Moran served Franklin as Title I Coordinator, a literacy coach, and taught 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades. She has been with the district since 2007 and has over 25 years of teaching experience. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Franklin College and a master’s degree from Ball State University.
“Cheryl has been a tremendous asset to Franklin Community Schools,” Dr. David Clendening, Superintendent said. “She has great communication skills, a passion for kids, and is a natural leader. When we asked parents what they were looking for in a new leader, Chery hit the mark every time.”
Moran taught at Custer Baker Intermediate School the first two years that it was open.
“There is an incredibly gifted group of teachers who care about students at CBIS and I want to be a part of that again. I am also interested in making the transition from elementary school to intermediate school a time that students look forward to and cherish,” Cheryl Moran said. “I am most excited about helping the intermediate school to develop a new identity. I want the kids to want to come to school, and I want them to have ownership in the building and to develop a lasting legacy before moving to the middle school.”
Moran will start her new position on July 1, 2019.
