FCS Welcomes Two New Board Members

FCS would like to thank those who ran for the FCS School Board. The district is very fortunate that there were four well-qualified candidates who have a vested interest in our schools, and most importantly, our students.

FCS is excited to welcome Becky Nelson and Ryan Waggoner to the School Board.  The two newly-elected Board of School Trustee members will officially begin their new role in January.

Becky Nelson works as a school nurse at Northwood Elementary trough Johnson Memorial Health.  She has been at Northwood for four years and has served on the PTO and volunteered for many school functions.  She has two sons who currently attend FCS and said that she is looking forward to learning more about the school board and the interworkings of a school district.  Becky indicated that her decision to run for school board was all about timing.  As Mr. Danny Vaught is not seeking re-election, she thought that this would be another way to serve at FCS.  Becky is excited to continue on the journey from Good to Great!

Ryan Waggoner has been an attorney at Ice Miller for five years.  He is a 2006 graduate of Franklin Community High School, a graduate of Butler University and attended law school at Pepperdine.  Ryan said that he cares deeply about Franklin Community Schools and is grateful for what the district has done for him, and this is his way to give back.  He is excited to get to know the School Board members as well as the rest of the faculty and staff at FCS.

Nelson and Waggoner will replace Danny Vaught and Darren Thompson; both decided not to seek re-election.
