Franklin Community Schools is excited to announce that Creekside Elementary School was named a recipient of the Indiana inaugural Purple Star school designation by the Indiana Department of Education.
The Indiana Purple Star school designation honors schools that have displayed a significant commitment to service members, veterans, and students and families connected to our nation’s military.
“Franklin Community Schools is proud to serve many military families,” Dr. David Clendening said. “With our location near several important military and national guard bases, we have a long and rich history of educating the children of military families in our district.”
"At Creekside Elementary School 'We Are Family' and we live this every day, including making sure to take good care of our military families that do so much for our country," said Dr. Mark Heiden, principal at Creekside.
In its first year, schools had to meet specific requirements to receive the Purple Star School Designation. These include, assigning a point of contact for military families, passing a resolution supporting military students and families, guaranteeing interviews for service members and their immediate family who meet the minimum job qualifications, and more. In total, 60 schools received the inaugural designation.
