Franklin Community Schools is proud to announce that Dr. Mark Heiden was named 2018 State Elementary Principal of the Year. In May, Dr. Heiden was chosen as the District 9 Elementary Principal of the Year.
Dr. Heiden has been the principal at Creekside Elementary since 2009 and has excelled as the High Ability Coordinator for the district. His work in High Ability led FCS to be recognized for Promising Practice of High Ability by the Indiana Department of Education.
“We are extremely happy for and proud of Dr. Heiden,” Dr. Clendening said. “We feel fortunate to have a leader of his caliber in our district.”
Dr. Heiden was joined at the ceremony by Dr. Clendening and many faculty members from Creekside Elementary.
District Elementary Principals of the Year are elected by their peers. From these 12 district winners, Dr. Heiden was chosen as the overall 2018 State Elementary Principal of the Year. Mark will represent Indiana at the National Association of Elementary School Principals National Distinguished Principal Recognition Program in the fall of 2019.
