In our ongoing quest to improve our processes, the Transportation Department gathered feedback from parents, bus drivers, and principals to create safer and more efficient bus routes.

The department received input from parents stating bus transfers complicate students’ trips to and from school and create safety concerns.  The department agreed and created the new routes to eliminate the majority of bus transfers. The new routes have the added benefit of most students having the same driver in the morning and afternoon.  This will allow our bus drivers to create positive relationships with students, and provide added consistency to the students' school day.

Bus routes will now be divided into elementary and secondary routes.  This means that students in kindergarten through 6th grade will ride together and students in 7th grade through 12th grade will ride together.  Buses who travel to elementary and intermediate buildings will no longer travel to secondary buildings and vice versa.  This has the potential to reduce the amount of time that students spend riding the bus.

Information about bus routes for your students for the 2017-2018 school year is now available.  Please continue to check E-link often as it will be updated daily as changes are made.
    E-Link Tips:
    • Check E-Link often - The times listed as bus stop times may vary.  If a new student moves in, or a student opts to no longer ride the bus, the time will change.  Within city limits, the time changes will not be as significant as those on our more rural routes. This software will give parents a general idea as to when the student's bus will arrive. Please continue to check the system as it will be updated as changes are made.
    • First day of school - Please make sure your student arrives at his or her bus stop early, especially for the first few days of school. This will allow bus drivers to ensure that the bus routes are efficient. We appreciate your patience as we work through the beginning of the school year.
