Eating Breakfast at School is a Great way to Start a Successful Day!

All Franklin Community Schools serve breakfast each day for just $1.30!

    Breakfast includes:

    • Whole grains from cereal, cereal bars, pancakes, French toast, waffles, or biscuits

    • Lean protein from eggs, yogurt, cheese, chicken

    • A variety of fresh fruit and 100% fruit juice

    • Low fat or non-fat milk

Eating breakfast helps improve students academic performance and behavior. Studies have shown that children who eat breakfast at school, closer to class and test-taking time, perform better on standardized tests than those who skip breakfast or eat breakfast at home.  Studies also show that students who participate in school breakfast show improved attendance, behavior, and academic performance as well as decreased tardiness.  Providing breakfast to students at school improves their concentration, alertness, comprehension, memory, and learning.  School breakfast can also improve children's dietary intake and protect against obesity.  School breakfast participants are more likely to consume diets that are adequate or exceed standards for important vitamins and minerals - e.g. vitamin C and A, calcium and phosphorous.
Please check your child's school web-page for breakfast serving times.  Most buildings serve breakfast from the time students arrive at school until the school day begins. In many buildings we offer a "grab and go" breakfast - students pick up their breakfast and head to the classroom to enjoy their meal and spend time with friends before the learning begins.

Parents, save yourself some of the morning stress at home and have your child eat breakfast at school!
