It is the vision of this joint IHSAA / Special Olympics Indiana (SOIN) sports project to allow high school students with and without intellectual disabilities to collectively represent their high school in an IHSAA sanctioned activity by participating together on a Unified Sports® team.”
The baseball team started play last week at the Columbus East Invitational. In the opener the Grizzly Cubs were downed by the host Olympians 10-0. Playing in the consolation round, the Grizzly Cubs trounced Herron High School 29-0 to finish in third place.
The girls tennis team has run off four wins in a row after their first loss of the season against Mooresville. On Saturday, April 15, the Lady Cubs played two conference opponents picking up victories over Plainfield and Martinsville.
On Saturday, April 15, the Grizzly Cubs golf team traveled to the Center Grove Trojan Classic and finished 5th against a strong field. Javan Johnson finished 2nd in the event with a round of 74. Other scores for the Grizzly Cubs were Emerson Downing 79, Matt Jordan 83, Kade Edwards 88, and Blake McIntire 91.
The Grizzly Cubs boys volleyball team had an action packed week against some of the state’s best programs. The team started the week with a road contest at Lutheran. The team made short work of the Saints defeating them in three sets 25-18, 25-15, 25-13.
The Franklin Girls track and field team won two events on Tuesday evening on their way to a 4th place finish at the Johnson County Track Meet. The 4x400 relay team of Kloie Doublin, Ally Parramore, Maggie Auger, and Emma Beavins took the championship with a time of 4:12.
The Johnson County baseball tourney is very early in the season. After dropping their first two games of the season, the Grizzly Cubs entered the County Tourney looking to turn things around. In the opening round, the team travelled to Indian Creek to take on the Braves.
The Boys and Girls track and field teams started the season 2-0 with victories over Shelbyville and Martinsville.
The Spring sports season got started in March with a few events sprinkled in prior to Spring Break.
